Salami on Bread

Salami on Bread is a 2025 original by Danish conceptual artist Thomas Hanscomb, from the project Art of the People.

Bread, salami and a frame. Chosen by the public, carried into a museum and hung beside the permanent collection without permission. No invitation, no curator. The object never changed. Only the wall it hung on.

Art of the People asked who decides what belongs in a museum. Usually a curator, a board, a market. This time the public chose, and Thomas Hanscomb carried it in. The videos passed 50 million views.

Then the market answered. Salami on Bread sold for €10,000.
