Sandwich is a 2025 original by Danish conceptual artist Thomas Hanscomb, and the work that started Art of the People.
Pågen bread, three-star salami, a black frame and double-sided tape. Materials worth around 50 kroner. On 13 July it was carried into Statens Museum for Kunst in Copenhagen and hung on the wall as if it had always belonged there. It stayed up for around 30 minutes before security took it down. Long enough.
The video from SMK reached 2.3 million views. Salami on Bread, from the same project, later sold for €10,000. The sandwich that hung in SMK is still available.
